However, Egyptians referred to backgammon as "Senat," which is a similar form of the present game played today. Hundreds of years ago, just citizens in influence, the prevailing figures of royalty like Egyptian queens, were able to enjoy. The game began to expand worldwide since then. Various Backgammon versions have been created in many territories and societies, but the basic codes of those variations are similar to that of the ancient form . For instance, Greece took hold of the game and called it by the title "bac gamen." From there, the English adopted backgammon in the seventeenth century and have continued to play it ever since. Backgammon and competing ancient games were never accepted by a good many churches. The clergy believe that the game was the tool of Satan. This led churches to blacklist and burn the game. The blacklisting and burning did not prevent many people enjoying games and having fun.

    Technology makes available an additional arena for Backgammon.
